Growing up in a Southern Baptist community mysticism wasn't much discussed, but it was always something that intrigued me. Not to argue with my brothers and sisters of the denomination, but I feel a closeness unlike I've ever experienced really leaning in and listening to God. I see God in everything in my daily life, and it has changed my perspective greatly.
Grateful that I have found this community, and I look forward to many more musings.
Wow, the caption almost threw me off. But that deep longing I understand. When I tell people in my journey with God, I experience the “He takes my breath away moments”. I’m here for this kind of love seeking. I just hope I can catch up reading 😊
Awesome, thank for you for sharing this space and opening this dialogue. I am very excited to learn more too. I have been on a journey of learning about mysticism of late as well and agree with your comment around how mystics have been deemed to be on the fringe, the woo-woo Christians as it were. I think some of the comes from how the use of the word mystic has changed overtime, but the early Christian mystics are inspiring with their heart's desire to be in God's presence, to know him and be transformed by him. Invitation accepted :)
I’m a new reader to your thoughts and I am interested to read more. I cannot name the suffering or measure the amount of it that has occurred in my life this year. God’s silence and inaction feels overwhelming, and I feel, like, a full-soul abrasion in this space.
Thank you for sharing this. As I want to explore more about Mysticism, can you recommend me some books and other sources, especially from the early church days?
Thank you so much - I’m excited about this blog! Would you be willing to recommend some of the readings you’re referring to regarding ancients, Mystics and Early Church Fathers & Mothers? I’d like to learn more but have no idea where to start. Thanks again!
I'll try write a post with a few starter suggestions from both categories but as far as the Mystics go 'The Cloud of Unknowing' and 'The Dark Night of The Soul' are a great place to start.
“Not deconstructed, just de-robed.”
Humbling. I’m here for it and look forward to sojourning with you brother.
Thanks, Jordan!

Grace and peace to you all.

I am thrilled to follow along as a fellow sojourner! Your work and reflections continue to resonate deeply with my longings and experience.

The depth and reflection in your writing is so refreshing. Looking forward to reading more.
This is totally what I long for... a 'God-soaked life'...

“…God’s silence and inaction” You just spoke the words that I’ve been struggling to find. Thank you.

I would love your recommendation on where to begin to start reading about christian mystics.
