This resonates with me so very deeply. God used a very quiet season for me to slow me down and reveal the depths of my soul, which only He can quench. I’m still wrestling with desire though so I look forward to reading your words!
This is timely as I was just having a long conversation with my husband about "the ache" and how so many of our troubles in life seem to be connected to our efforts to run from it or satiate it with shallow and temporary things.. and how subtle and sneaky those efforts can be at times, sometimes even unknowingly woven into our spiritual practices. Great read, thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much. I recognize that ache as well. I once read somewhere that it is God-built so that it is the compass to Him, the One who truly & fully satisfies us. Yet in our humanity, on this side of heaven, the struggle remains real.
As someone who struggles with chronic illness, I deeply resonate with your story and perspectives. Beholding was a book that held me in my sickbed last year. I deeply look forward to Thirst. I am so sorry for your suffering. But I also see from afar the sweetness God is making of it—like a crushed rose. May you find some good health here and there to carry you and more and more peace and purpose along the way. God bless you.
I'm so glad to hear Beholding met you in that place, Kimberly and I'm sorry to hear about your illness. I'm praying the same crushed-rose sweetness in your life, my friend!
Like Bethany had commented, I’m in a similar position. With trials feeling as though they never cease, I’m daily reminded that absolutely nothing lasts, nor satisfies, like the love of God through Christ Jesus. I’m working towards harnessing this revelation to both faithfully live it out for myself and shepherd others into this truth.
Just pre ordered from the US! Can’t wait to get my hands on it. Also the cover art is beautiful
